Infusing Campus Culture and Brand Identity to add Meaning, Impact and Soul
As West Valley Community College worked to complete an amazing new Student Services Center, it was clear the beautiful architecture and elegant finishes lacked something … a soul reflective of the campus culture, its students and staff.
Thysse was asked to help with bringing that campus culture into the new space. We also created impactful, but tasteful brand identity items and accompanying color and texture, as well as signage and wayfinding.
With custom wallpaper, we were able to add color and texture to an otherwise beige space without overwhelming the overall architecture. Adding changeable photo panels showcasing student life, campus events and scenery, we gave first-time visitors a glimpse into campus culture, while allowing content to remain fresh for those repeat visitors, students and staff.
A large, lit logo element surrounded by value words serves as an immediate reminder of who we are and what we embrace as West Valley students and staff, while providing an impressive photo backdrop for the social media selfie or graduation keepsake.
Custom building directories at all entrances and elevator locations are designed and engineered to be easily and inexpensively changeable without looking like they are easily changeable. The materials chosen compliment the building finishes. The directories work together with department signage and wayfinding, all working with the architecture while reflecting the West Valley brand.
